When Jesus walked on earth, he performed many works: teaching through parables, healing the sick, performing various miracles, and walking on water. However, none of these compare to the greatest work Jesus’ Father called Him to do. By dying for us on the cross, Jesus freed us from our sins. This liberated all of mankind from the law of sin and death.
The Bible tells us that this was Jesus’ primary job, even from the time of his birth.
Matthew 1:21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins. (NKJV)
This is the most important message for us to understand because it relates to the crucial question that each of us must answer: Where will I end up after I die?
As we go about our daily lives on this earth, we make choices based upon two internal questions.
- For whom will I live on this earth, God or self?
- What am I choosing as my ultimate destination, heaven or hell?
Every decision that we make, every action that we choose to follow is a reflection of the answers to these two questions.
