God’s Affordable Health Care

Children are not responsible for paying for health care coverage: their parents are responsible for meeting this need. The DNA of children prove that they belong to their parents, and as a result, children reap the blessings of their parents. The same is true of our faith walk. Our Christian DNA proves that we belong to God and that we are covered by His health care plan. God’s ultimate will for our lives is that we walk in divine health.

Jehovah Rapha

Jehovah Rapha means “the God who heals” and is one of the names of God defined in the Bible. He is our great physician and this is part of His character. His desire is for us to be whole both physically and mentally.

Unfortunately, the earth was cursed with sin and sickness when Adam and Eve broke God’s covenant. By willfully choosing to eat the forbidden fruit, they introduced all sorts of evil, including disease, into the world.

Deuteronomy 28:15 But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God or be careful to do all his commandments and his statutes that I command you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you. (ESV)

Jesus tells us that He came to restore our health so that we can live abundantly and overcome the sin that had overtaken the world.

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (NKJV)

Like Father, Like Son

Recognizing the Christian’s DNA – We should reflect our Father.

Let us first take a quick look at DNA and what it means for us as humans:

  • Genetic code for all living things
  • Stores biological information
  • Pivotal for building and maintaining an organism
  • Blueprint for your life

Just as our DNA defines how we will look and act, God created us with a Christian’s DNA to both look and act like HIM!

Genesis 1:26a Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.” (NKJV)

His image refers to our appearance. His likeness refers to our personality. As God’s children, we physically look like Him and His Word has plenty to say on this topic.

A man died and went to heaven.  He was met at the Pearly Gates by Saint Peter who led him down the golden streets.  They passed mansion after beautiful mansion until they came to the end of the street, stopping in front of a shack. The man asked Saint Peter why he got a hut when there were so many mansions he could live in.  St. Peter replied, “I did the best I could with the money you sent us.”

Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (NKJV)

God is not against us having money; He is against money controlling us!

Your money is tied to your heart:

  • God doesn’t want your money, He wants your heart.
  • If He can get your money, He can get your heart.

Deuteronomy 8:18
And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is to this day (NKJV)

  • Money is a tool or resource to help us do things.
  • We can’t live without money.
  • Money enables us to buy things.
    • Nothing is wrong with having a nice house, car, nice clothes, going on vacations.
    • God is not against you having things.

God gave us the power to get and make wealth; our talents and abilities are from Him.

His ability to establish His covenant is based upon our ability to make money.

He blesses us so that we have the opportunity to bless others.

Luke 6:38
GIVE, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you USE, it will be measured BACK to you. (NKJV)

  • Not tithing is robbing God of what belongs to Him.
  • He only asks for 10% and leaves you with 90%.
  • You curse or hinder future finances because you haven’t given God anything He can use.
  • Only 5% of Americans say they tithe.
  • Statistics show only 2.58% of people actually tithe!!

Based upon this information, how can the church survive?

Malachi 3:10-11
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.
“And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”
Says the Lord of hosts; (NKJV)

  • Tithes belong in the local church.
  • Tithes enable the church to fulfill its vision.
  • The ministry can’t reach people without money.
  • Imagine the possibilities
  • More money = more vision

Tithing stops the devil from devouring your finances.

Tithing enables the plan of God to be fulfilled.

Examine your heart and finances; He wants to bless you.

What can you deposit into His storehouses?

Five Elements of a Healthy Church
Part 5 (Give)

July 25, 2016

Welcome to the beginning of another week. I hope that the weekend brought rest and relaxation. The Foslien family celebrated the college graduation of their son, Spencer. In Pastor’s absence, I had the honor to wrap up our series, Christ-Centered for Life.

Let’s take a moment to review the 5 Signs of a Christ-Centered Church

  1. We Connect (FELLOWSHIP)
  2. We Serve (MINISTRY)
  3. We Attend (WORSHIP)
  4. We Grow (DISCIPLESHIP)
  5. We Give (EVANGELISM)

As we close the series, let’s talk about the ways we can give: time, talent, treasure, touch.

God’s Word about money – Matthew 6:21
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. [NKJV]

Your money is tied to your heart, AND it takes on the personality of the person holding it.

Ecclesiastes 10:19
People enjoy eating, and wine makes life happy. But money solves a lot of problems. [ERV]

God is not against us having money. He is against money CONTROLLING us!

Deuteronomy 8:18
And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who give you the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. [NKJV]

God gives us the power and ability to make money. He wants us to be blessed so that we can bless others. He gives to us so that we can give it away.

God isn’t asking for our all of our money; His Word tells us that he wants the first 10%.

Read Leviticus 27:30 about God’s financial plan. One tenth belongs to the Lord and must be set apart to him as holy. After God’s 10%, we have 90% to use as we need.

Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your boson. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you [NKJV]

Giving forces trust, dependence, and faith in God.

God wants to bless each of us.

Challenge Him – Dare Him to honor His word.

Give as He intended and watch the blessings begin to come your way.

Are you willing to take the risk???
