Quotes About Christmas

Rededication

#11) “There is no better time than now, this very Christmas season, for all of us to rededicate ourselves to the principles taught by Jesus the Christ. It is the time to love the Lord, our God, with all our heart – and our neighbors as ourselves.” Thomas S. Monson

A wonderful man of God once said; “with every new revelation, there must be a rededication.” and how true that is!  When we go to church to learn about acting as a Christian, the hearing is the easy part and the doing becomes difficult.  It is just as Jesus said, “the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” where follow through has always been the hardest part of our Christain walk. Our human nature prefers to respond in kind: You hit me, I’ll hit you; You hurt me, I’ll hurt you.  But, the Bible tells us to LOVE those that hurt us – not condemn or hate them.  Doing the right thing is not always easy, which is why so many people struggle to walk in love, but it is always worth it.

Wednesday at church I repeated a phrase I heard many years ago, “What rules you, leads you.”  What does that mean? Well, the Bible tell us we are a three-part being; spirit, soul, and body.  With your spirit, you are connected with our Lord and Savior (the spiritual realm), with your body the physical world, and with your soul our mind, will, and emotions.  When our body rules us, we will live by its desires.  When our soul rules us, we will live by our feelings.  When our spirit leads us, (I am talking to Christians here) we will let God lead us to do what is right.  As I quoted Jesus in the first paragraph, “the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” so choose to be led by the spirit.

This Christmas, I want to encourage you to rededicate your life to Christ. If you have gotten away from the church, then it is time to come back home. No matter what you have been told, have seen, or have experienced, God has a wonderful plan for your life. If you let Jesus be the Lord of your life in 2017 and commit to doing what you hear at church for a whole year, I promise you, your life will change for the better! The best gift you could open this year is your Bible. I encourage you, take this new step!

God Bless,

Pastor Paul
